Q. How much does it cost to move a piano?
Q. To move a piano upstairs means unavoidable damage to walls and steps is this true?
A. The main reason for a piano to go out of tune after relocation is the change in atmosphere. We recommend letting the piano settle in it's new location for approx 2 weeks.
Q. Does a piano need tuning after a move?
Q. How heavy is a piano?
A. An upright piano generally weighs between 300-800lbs (4-9 bags of cement). Grand pianos between 400 and 1300lbs.
A. When moved properly typically the piano does not go out of tune.
Q. When should a piano be tuned?
A. No - Expert piano movers can identify potential issues and take appropriate actions to avoid damage of any sort. A comment that due to weight and awkward shape damage needs to be done and cannot be avoided we feel is unacceptable.
A. Pricing is calculated on many factors including the make, model and access at both locations. An acurate desription means the correct staffing and equipment is supplied and price quoted is appropriate. It costs nothing to ask us for a price.
Q. Do you cover the pianos and protect when being moved?
A. We cover each piano with blankets and shrink wrap the blankets on. If there is risk of rain we add a plastic cover to ensure the instrument stays dry. Safety precautions are also assessed when moving. Preventing damage to piano, property and person is our job.
